Even if you boot them all out, will their replacements be any better?

I don't have the answer and people a lot smarter than me don't seem to either. I really am starting to buy in to the conspiracy theory, but it seems there is a conspiracy by all in power to stay in power. This is not right-wing or left-wing - it is about power.

Subject: Re: [tech-geeks] Quinn Budget Cuts: New Details Released On $1.4B In Statewide Cuts

Reading through the proposed budget and I am noticing a lot of programs that state pays for but doesn't need to. Most of the cuts they did make don't make any sense, and they stuff they kept only makes the problem worse.

It doesn't matter what side you are on in the debate it just seems more and more that the people we have in office don't want to do anything but stay in office. Because of this anyone that gets to the state level or higher is corrupt in some way due to the nature of the system that put them there. Most aren't corrupted badly, but there are those that wield a lot of power and influence that have been a major driving force in this no existent budget resolution.

The problem is that we can't get rid of them and if we do then what? Anyone in office is only going to do what gets them reelected and that can't be when you have to make the hard decision. It's time for them to start doing what's right and not what is easy.

Sorry Guys,

I love you all. But, if we are going to Parrot Fox News talking points then maybe we should set up another list for Right vs Left debates.

I know I made a partisan remark. But, it was in reaction to one and I couldn't resist responding (poor impulse control) but if I and those who see these issues thru another set of lenses debate each of the talking points that were just raised I don't think it's good for the forum.

I know we have a mess right now. I am an old fashioned (with emphasis on the old) liberal. But I recognize that both sides in these debates bear some blame for the mess we are in. I cannot listen to left wing radio any more than I can the right wing version because this is not a case of us against them.

We are all us and I enjoy this list so much because that is what we act like over and over again. Even when I ask a stupid question I get a thoughtful, detailed response from someone who is an expert in the field. We can all smile at the Sox vs Cubs vs Cards (whoever they are?) but unfortunately none of us seem to have an easy time talking about politics anymore.

"Just Sayin" -- stole that from someone, just had to use it.
