I had another today:

New teacher has a Promethean board in her room. Worked fine when I set it
up this summer and then showed her the basics.
Received a trouble ticket yesterday that she couldn't get it to work, and 4
or 5 other teachers had looked at it and tried some stuff and
had no ideawhat to do (This includes the librarian (tech Specialist who had
special traing for the boards)). Went up this morning and looked
it and over and decided that the power switched needed to be turned on.
Worked like a charm. she was excited and wanted to know it she
could write on the board now. told her to go for it.

All I can say is I feel your pain. I had one that called me and said her
computer wasn't working. She moved the monitor from one spot on the desk to
another and pulled the power cord out. Another one said his computer wasn't
working. When I walked down to the classroom, he hadn't turned the monitor
on. He shouldn't have asked what the problem was, because I told him and
there was a room full of students. I can't even go into all of the stuff
that our "computer teacher" (really keyboarding and word processing) has
done. It would take me all day to type the email. I'll just say that her
organizational skills are somewhere between slim and none, her file
management skills are worse, is completely resistant to any kind of change,
and refuses to listen. All of that has resulted in a ton of lost data and
pictures. Of course, it's all my fault. Luckily, every time she didn't
listen and I had to correct something, it was documented on the trouble
ticket system.

What about those teachers who have a broken smartboard. Upon entrance into
their room discovering the projector is on but can't connect to a video
source I look on the wall next to the computer and see the video cable
looped up and the end dangling over the laptop. After connecting the cable
I walked across the hall and told her and the other three people who worked
on it until heir hair was pulled out. "I fixed your smartboard!"

> Last year during planning stages of adding multipurpose rooms to each
school and also swapping the Jr High Office with the Jr High Library I posed
the question "will all new phone wiring be tied into the existing system?"
and I got the response from the architect and engineer "everything will be
taken care of". Last Monday, which is a week and 3 days before school
starts (it starts this Thursday) I had a call from the Jr High Principal
stating "when will "I" get the phones up and running?" which I replied "the
plans were that "they" would take care of everything". After contacting my
Buildings and Grounds guy and the architect I was told it had been taken
care of. Their idea of taking care of it was punching it down to a new
block without tying it into the existing system. I then had to call my
existing phone people to beg them to come out and tie the whole thing
together ASAP! As you can imagine they were not happy and we just got our
phones up and running in that building yesterday. Talk about YIKES and
AACK!!!!!!!!!!!
