FWIW, to me the "best of both worlds" scenario might be to have a "southern branch" meeting location that meets at the same day/time as the "official" meeting. The two sites connected via Elluminate but there is still the richness of personal Face-to-Face interaction.
I have not joined IL-CTO yet and the only reason is that I cannot participate in the meetings. They stream the meetings via Elluminate and at last week's meeting, they shared that two meetings for the 2011-2012 school year are tentatively scheduled for downstate (Starved Rock and Heartland CC). Also, they have a presence at IETC.
