This has always been one of the hurdles of any group like this. I remember
12 years ago there was an attempt to create one (it's where I first met
Gerry). Something is either started by someone up North, invitations are
offered to those of us in the south but because the sites are generally up
in the North to accommodate the majority of the founding participants, the
southerners don't participate in large numbers.

So the Southerners offer to have meetings somewhat a little more
geographically in the middle and in many instances it falls on deaf ears.

"Near the geographic
center<http://www.netstate.com/states/geography/il_geography.htm>of
Illinois is a small village in Logan County called
Chestnut<http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap&addr=&city=Chestnut&state=IL&slt=40.059299&sln=-89.195000&mlt=40.064900&mln=-89.206900&name=&zip=62518&country=us&BFKey=&BFCat=&BFClient=&mag=5&desc=&cs=9&newmag=6&poititle=&poi=>.
Chestnut is located between
Lincoln<http://www.villageprofile.com/illinois/lincoln/lincoln1.html>and
Decatur <http://www.ci.decatur.il.us/> about 28 miles northeast of
Springfield <http://www.springfield.il.us/>.   Longitude: 89° 18.4'W
Latitude: 40° 0.8'N"

Offer a place close to the geographic center of the state and see what kind
of response you get.
Everyone wants it in their backyard (unless it's a TIF district).
