Something to keep in mind with asterisk is that even though it is open source that doesn’t mean you have to do it yourself. As Tom mentioned, there are several vendors out there installing and supporting asterisk based solutions. That’s the direction I would want to head. It allows for somebody else to do the primary support but allows for other integration maybe you could do on your own.
