We had this issue with Epson 84 projectors, too. We found that adjusting
the resolution made a difference. The optimal resolution for the projector
seemed to be 1024 x 768.

Subject: [tech-geeks] SMART board/Epson projector issue
One of our teachers is projecting a powerpoint presentation on her
SMART board with an Epson 400W LCD projector but the top 1/6 of the
display is a black bar. The powerpoint slide looks fine on her
computer monitor. When she tries to orient the board, she cannot see
the top three points to tap. I have not run into this issue before.
Hoping one of you have a quick fix for me. ;)
