I tried to get this working on IIS when I was at IWEST and ended up going with one of the WAMP type installs. For the life of me I can't remember the name of it...sometimers setting in already :D My experience now would be to just go with a Linux distro... These will install Apache, MySQL, and PHP, and usually several mgmt apps with them. I would do this, instead of trying to manipulate IIS into behaving the way you want. > > Here are a couple links: > http://www.wampserver.com/en/ > http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html > > I also came across this, but haven't heard of most of these mentioned. > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_WAMPs > > Also, something to think about when using these WAMP packages. Often times, out of the box, they aren't exactly secure. You'll want to review the website and see what they recommend for locking down the install, changing passwords, etc. Also, some of them don't install as a service, so you have to login to Windows and launch the WAMP server. Works great for testing and trial type stuff, but not so good for production. > > Also, don't forget that once you get this rolling, it will work for playing with Joomla, but also a whole host of other PHP/MySQL apps like Moodle, and others too numerous to mention. > > Hope that helps! > > > > > > On 9/28/2010 12:05 PM, Paul Peacock wrote: >> I am getting started working with mySQL for a new installation of >> Joomla in a Windows server.
