Since you have a JoomlaPack backup, I would put the wounded box aside
and install Joomla 1.0 on a new/different box and use JoomlaPack to
restore the original website. Then after the Joomla 1.0 site is back up,
then go through the upgrade process to move to 1.5.

I have been backing up (to a windows machine) using Joomlapack.
Is it worth trying to rebuild my 1.0.x environment, or is it possible
with the Joomlapack content files to migrate to 1.5?
I am willing to carry my bruised box, at your convenience, to any kind
(and MIGHTY) Joomla guru if you think it is recoverable.
