He is talking about the VGA cable to the projector.

I'm confused b/c we use a VGA cable to connect the projector to a computer and a USB cable to connect the smartboard to the computer. Maybe my boards are old and there is a newer way of doing things.

We use a powered splitter - we get one from Monoprice.com for under
$20. Short (6') VGA cable from computer to the in port of the
    Monoprice
splitter, Short (6') cable from out port 1 of the splitter to the
monitor and a long (50') cable to the projector mounted on the
    ceiling.
We use the Monoprice spittler that includes audio and the 50' cable -
also from Monoprice - has audio built in as well.

Don't mess with two long cables.
