XP even sometimes takes a few minutes if a new user logs in. Is it possible
that setting a default profile on a machine would make a difference?

Subject: [tech-geeks] slow Windows 7 logins

There's many threads out there on the Internet about slow Windows 7 logins
and many talk about this weird solid background glitch. I'm using the stock
Win7 default wallpaper so that's not my issue. If a new user logs onto a
machine causing it to build a new profile, on some of our machines that
could be minutes. I recently noticed this happening in our Vista lab as
well so it's not specific to Win7 but something with the new architecture I
guess.

Anybody have any stories of fixing slow login problems?
