I'm not sure what you mean by "setting" a default profile. All of the machines have a default profile. On XP I've caught myself creating an overly large default profile by copying the profile from the user I used to set the machine up which contained cached copies of the java installer etc...
On these machines however I'm pretty sure the default profile it's copying is rather small in size. Is it possible that setting a default profile on a machine would make a difference? I'm using the stock Win7 default wallpaper so that's not my issue. If a new user logs onto a machine causing it to build a new profile, on some of our machines that could be minutes. I recently noticed this happening in our Vista lab as well so it's not specific to Win7 but something with the new architecture I guess. Anybody have any stories of fixing slow login problems?
