It's all in need and how you use it. Work paid for mine, but I kind of wish
we'd sprung for the 3G version, or that I'd have thought to pay the difference
out of pocket.

Here's how I use mine for my writing side-career:

Other apps I use:

Kindle, Nook, iBooks for reading
Netflix
The Guardian Eyewitness photography app (their best photos)
NYTimes (was just upgraded, too)
Comics+
Flipboard (excellent app for keeping up with social networks and news feeds --
gives both a magazine-like feel)
Adobe Ideas (good for doodling/rough sketching)
Mint (tied to the personal finance site of the same name)
DirecTV
IMDB
Dragon (though I don't actually use it much)
Remote

I also have two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu apps with videos, etc., of various
techniques. I wish Flickr would get with it and upgrade their app for the iPad.
