Did exactly the same thing about a month ago.   Except G5 PowerBook to
new Macbook Pro.

You can also run the Migration tool over the network.  I believe that
I put the install disk from the *new* Macbook Pro into the old G5 to
start the Migration Assisstant there, then ran the Migration Assistant
that was part of the "first boot" on the new Pro.

The Migration ran just fine over the house wireless (802.11g), but
took overnight.  About 7 or 8 hours, IIRC.

Firewire would have been much faster, I bet.  I'll be trying that at
work later this week as I migrate from a 1st-gen Macbook Pro to a
unibody Macbook Pro.  Hopefully it won't have to run overnight if I
connect them via Firewire.
