If you're running in paid mode, both of these programs can be run while the system is up and running (at least, I've done that myself with both programs), and I believe that they both can be set up to schedule themselves to run at certain times of the day. They can also be set to back up either complete images (minus certain temporary files that should not be backed up), or given a more restricted set of files to be copied. They can also create volume images onto which the backup will be written, and will be mountable just like a regular volume. Recent versions should be fully capable of writing to sparse volume images, and the cool thing about them is that they create a set of "slice" files that exist under a directory, and if you are repeatedly backing up to the same sparse volume image, only the slices that need to change to reflect the new contents will be modified. You can then copy only those changed slices somewhere else, for additional backup measures. They are more system image tools, but have slowly been accumulating some of the more standard system backup features. -- Brad Knowles <[email protected]> LinkedIn Profile: <http://tinyurl.com/y8kpxu> _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
