I use SuperDuper! to an external drive. Backup to network drive should work but it's an image backup with no history taking up the entire drive. Backup to a network share otherwise requires you to use an image (see Disk Utility); the good news there is that you can use hdiutil to create images *and* launch SD! from a script (or indeed from cron, which is how its built-in scheduling capability works). I don't generally notice SD! running but others might. Then again it does seem to take some pains to minimize impact on the system at the price of slower backups (well, duh). - -- brandon s. allbery [linux, solaris, freebsd, perl] [email protected] system administrator [openafs, heimdal, too many hats] [email protected] electrical and computer engineering, carnegie mellon university KF8NH -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.10 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk0MRuMACgkQIn7hlCsL25UBhwCfeJZNyle+MkiUuPASNF5GGHFk G4cAoK/8FMwCR1RYLtNH5q5XBzuLUcOt =dbwO -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
