A vote for NetApp We are a big NetApp shop (Blackboard as a whole) with 100+ filers... I personally run about 7 of them. ZFS to me is exciting but I don't feel its quite "appliance" enough to be my main SAN. NAS for me is primarily for VMware and one filer with a simple shared CIFS setup. It just works, I like their support, I like the stability and the performance has been fantastic especially since we started getting PAM cards.
We get pretty aggressive pricing which may tip you in another direction but if you can afford it... I'd do it. Ryan Dorman Manager, Infrastructure Engineering Blackboard Inc. I haven't had a chance to look at the latest issue yet, but I will. > My takeaway was that I should be looking at ZFS sooner rather than > later and relying upon enterprise class disks + RAID without checksums > in the FS layer is becoming increasingly foolhardy. I think you're probably right. :) -Adam _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/ This email and any attachments may contain confidential and proprietary information of Blackboard that is for the sole use of the intended recipient.
