3-4 years without a problem.
We have 100mbit, gigabit, and serial versions.
They do use small transformer, so you need a standard NEMA 5-15 outlet wherever you want to plug one in. If you had a lot of these to do, you'd probably want to go with one of the rack-mount pluggable solutions at a slight premium (also included management, typically)
