Hi,

I would check out these items:

* trying running the repair disk permisisons utility to make sure they are correct. Use the Apple tools, Onyx, or Applejack.

* check where office stores temporary files. We had a problem once with disk shares where it did not have rights to the root of the share where it wanted to store the temp files that caused strange behaviours

Good luck.

cheers,

ski

Is there any chance they're aliases?

Alas no they aren't.

I'm finding a ton of old temp files though, i.e. "~$cA.docx". Since she
keeps having to force-quit Word I guess.
