The key is that the application is freezing and that she has to force-quit to exit. You'll need to resolve that situation.
Microsoft Word (on all platforms) has always restarted with a "recovered" version of the previous document if it was closed improperly. That's likely what all of those temp files were. One thing to try is to launch Word and Close any opened documents so that Word is left running but with no documents open. Then, quit Word properly (Cmd-Q, for example). Then, relaunch Word and it should open with no recovered documents. Finally, launch DocA, DocB, or DocC and the correct document will probably open. The situation will return if you cannot close Word properly when a document is open. ----- Original message ----- From: Roy McMorran <mcmor...@barncrew.com> To: "tech@lists.lopsa.org" <tech@lists.lopsa.org> Subject: Re: [lopsa-tech] Bizarre Mac/Office issue Date: Thu, 9 Jun 2016 10:55:19 -0400 On 6/9/16 10:34 AM, Singer Wang wrote: > Is there any chance they're aliases? Alas no they aren't. I'm finding a ton of old temp files though, i.e. "~$cA.docx". Since she keeps having to force-quit Word I guess. -- Roy McMorran Bar Harbor, ME _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list Tech@lists.lopsa.org https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/ _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list Tech@lists.lopsa.org https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
