Er...not exactly. At least, it is no different than fibrechannel/infiniband/myrinet/etc. how require a large flat network. You shouldn't be treating your SAN network like a regular IP network because it isn't. And it really depends on how many ports/hosts you want on the network. I can see easily scaling up to 256 interfaces on the network. If you put, say, 4T behind each interface that is a petabyte. That is plenty for me and most people currently using iSCSI or even fibrechannel. I am yet to work in any petabyte shop although I imagine it won't be too long as I already have a couple hundred T on AoE. -- Tracy Reed http://tracyreed.org
