  I've used m0n0wall, and pfSense was derived from that.

Many of these can be done on appliance size unit, even linux based ones.


However, you're not going to be running encryption on the link - they  
all basically need an open hotspot to work.  WEP & WPA(2) operate on  
the link level, so anything above that - IP or higher - won't be able  
to suddenly encrypt a link.
