I would just telnet to port 80 via public IP and see where you're ending up. Then figure it out from there. Assuming that you can get to the destination server via telnet, check your DNS and httpd.conf :) It would be interesting to see what error that you get on your browser.

I am using iptables on the firewall. I have two other programs running on this unit and there http requests work just fine from the public side.
