I would just telnet to port 80 via public IP and see where you're ending up. 
Then figure it out from there.
Assuming that you can get to the destination server via telnet, check your DNS 
and httpd.conf :) 
It would be interesting to see what error that you get on your browser.

I am looking for some technical advice on accessing an instance of
MediaWiki through a firewall. I have a firewall that nats my server
group. Behind this I have an instance of MediaWiki running  and can
access it very well on the private side. When I try to access it from
the Public side the http request times out. I am using iptables on the
firewall.  I have two other programs running on this unit and there http
requests work just fine from the public side. When I configured iptables
for this I just copied the rules and changed the IPs accordingly. Any
pointers would be greatly appreciated.
