We've been running SVN (and Perforce) over NFS for years.  Clients are Mac, 
Windows, Linux and the NFS servers have been
 at least 4 generations of NetApp.

I believe that for a while we even had the same filesystems exported via both 
NFS and CIFS on those repositories; I can
look into it further if anyone is interested.
