I don't believe you were joking. I believe you are one of those crusadors (clapping coconuts together) who want to eliminate a few named coding-constructs even in situations where they work in a completely safe way, and furthermore are standardized as mandatory. This is probably due to lack of education in the mathematical field, and lack of other things to do.
