Hi David

Actually, you can indeed send links to files you've uploaded. Just use the
"Select Files" option and tic the one you want. Then, just click "Drop Ship".

As Gordon says I have been using the Mac Access Drop Shift service
and web server to good affect. I turned to this service after my brother
complained that in the process of downloading a file I sent him using
Sendspace he inadvertently received malware which changed his home page and
search provider.
Of course there are no such problems with the Mac- Access service and he
also appreciates the good clean interface of downloading a file without
being bombarded by noisy and unwanted pop ups and adverts. People are often
also worried in using sites such as Send space that their email accounts may
be compromised. Again there is no such worry on the Mac Access server.

The web server is accessible on both Mac and Windows platforms. Uploading
files to store on the server is straightforward. Currently to send a drop
shift email you have to upload it to the server as with the sendspace but
speeds of upload and download are good. The download links sent out can be
activated just once for security reasons and the links expire after 7 days.
I think there will be some accessibility enhancements upcoming so that you
can send drop shift emails linking to files you have already uploaded to the
server.

The web server is also a good one stop access point as not only do you have
access to your personal files that you have uploaded but links to the Mac
Access Software Repository and the Mac-Access bookshelf is also included.
Basically I use it if for example I am scanning books on one machine and
then want them available for reference on all the machines I use. A bit
like I Clouds I guess but I have not got into I clouds yet as the
Mac-Access server does what I need for the moment, similarly with drop box.
Best of all it is a service that is free to list members.

Hope that helps.
