Yep, £200.00 is expensive for a radio but you do get what you pay for, I paid
$300.00 for it over here and the only reason that happened was that the Hi-Fi
retailer I went to is closing down at the end of next month and has to get rid
of stock and that's a shame as there are very few outlets around now that stock
good quality products such as the Tivoli Audio range.

As far as portable DAB+ radios go there are some very good candidates in my
view that you should consider.

Of course I don't know your exact needs but I'll summaries a few of the
portables I have here for your benefit and I have a fair few.

If you want something that sounds absolutely brilliant - best you're ever
likely to here from a DAB portable - then investigate the Pure Evoke 2S radio
but I warn you they don't come cheap, luckily for me again I got mine on
special.

This radio has a dedicated woofer, 2 mid range and 2 tweeter drivers and every
function has a dedicated button.

If you're a user of Pure radios then you may have come across the pure "Listen
Later" and "Rewind" functions, boh are present on this set.

If you want something smaller, less expensive but still stereo sound in a
portable then look at the Pure One Flow, has many of the functions of the Evoke
2S and is easy to use.

Want something smaller again that fits nicely on the desk with a very nice
sound for a mono radio but don't want to pay the price of the Tivoli? Perhaps
the Pure One Mini Series II might be worth a look, this radio measures around 4
inches square with the speaker in the middle on the front.

Perhaps you'd like stereo sound on your coffee table in a portable but simple
to use unit? I mentioned the Pure One Flow earlier but the Sangean DPR25 is
even easier to use with 5 dedicated preset buttons but without the complexity
of the Pure One Flow's function list. The Sangean DPR25 has 2 dedicated 2.5
inch stereo drivers and can be run on AC power or with Dry Cell or Rechargeable
batteries.

And finally, are you one of those people who likes to record DAB+ broadcasts
for later playing or editing on a computer? If that's the case then I've seen 2
stand out models which will help.

The Sangean DPR17 is a mono portable which records DAB broadcasts directly to a
SD card, the card can also be used for Time shifting on playback.

The Grundig Replay will allow the recording of DAB broadcasts and it goes a
step further than the Sangean offering an Electronic Programme Guide, 3 record
timers etc.

I'm sure there are many more good radio sets than I've briefly covered here and
I'm sorry I couldn't give more details on each as all are very excellent sets
in their own right.

I forgot to mention a small hand-held radio I have here from Sangean, I can't
remember the model but its a ripper.

It has a 2 inch speaker on one side and - whilst this speaker would scarcely
fill a room with sound - its ideal for personal listening and the headphone amp
in the set is very nice.

The radio comes bundled in a travel case with rechargeable batteries.
