Dear Gordon,

I expect you will have tried this and possibly use it on other devices but in
case not, hold down lowest dot on left hand side and at the same time press dot
4. This works for me but I appreciate it may not necessarily work for yourself.

Best wishes,

Roger.

Hi again, Debbie

Just about to set up E-Mail on my ElBraille, and it occurs to me that I can’t
remember how you insert the “@“ symbol. This kind of computer Braille is not
the same as other devices use, so it’s kind of thrown me a bit.

I’m not sure if this will work, but if you can switch to computer braille, You
enter the digits as lower letters in computer braille. For example, 1 is Lower
A (dot 2), 2 is lower B (dots 2-3) 3 is lower C (dots 2-5) all the way up to 9
which is lower I (dots 2-4(. For a zero, you press lower J (dots 2-4-5). If
it’s UEB You are using, can’t you use the number sign to indicate digits.

Hello Roger

Yes, this works, and I use this method all the time on other devices. But I
can’t get digits to work. Computer Braille doesn’t seem to work either at the
password prompt.

Dear Gordon,

I’m taking it that you have a braille input keyboard with eight keys i.e. so
you can generate dots 1 to 6 plus seven and eight?

If so, hold down the key which would generate the lowest dot on the left hand
side of the cell and at the same time press the dots for the braille letter you
wish to make upper-case.

Best wishes,

Roger.

Subject: [Techno-Chat]: Strange Question Regarding Braille Input

Hello everybody

I’ve stumbled upon an issue. To which I just cannot find the answer. I’ve
banged my head against so many walls that bits are starting to fall off it! So
now, I have to bug the group.

My password to log into Windows and my Microsoft account uses upper case
characters, lower case characters and digits. Using a Braille display’s
Perkins-style keyboard, how does one go about entering this combination of
characters at the Windows password prompt?

I have tried using computer Braille, no go. I’ve tried to use the usual U+Chord
command to indicate that I’m about to enter an upper case character. No go. I
obviously can’t use either literary grade 1/2 at this juncture, because in UEB
and the old-style British Braille, the dots 3, 4, 5 and 6 keystroke produces
different symbols.

Any suggestions very much appreciated.
