The grounds are not broken. Between the flyback and regulator are 2 diodes and 2 resistors, all checked ok. My reasoning was if there is a short in the windings of the flyback that maybe the voltage going to the regulator is higher than normal. I was asking for help, not to be treated like an idiot.
