Ed is right to suggest not upgrading operating systems as cheap as these computers are nowadays. I didn't know off hand because this is the first time that I've done it other than 95 to 98 which was easy. Now I'll take the old computer and re-install Windows 98 so that the peripheral drivers such as the old Cannon scanner will operate properly. I found out (the time consuming way) that updated versions of the drivers are not available online to support Windows XP. But for this old computer I can still use a very viable system and the computer itself is good and now has new cooling fans. Back to 98 for it!
