Bil,
Check all the cables to the display. If you have to replace the screen, look to spend
over $300. I
recently replaced on one an HP. Ordered the Compaq one for less. I think the display
had a Samsung part
number on the back.
Do a Google search on the part number to find the cheapest. When I received this one,
came with the lid
and all.
You can remove the screen from the housing by removing the screw covers, either
plastic or rubber, from
the front of the screen frame, around the screen...then the plastic frame will
separate similar to a
remote as mentioned in another post

Subject: [Techs] Toshiba LAPTOP - How to Disassemble?

Toshiba Satellite Pro
Model PA1230U XCD
Laptop

Can't get case to come apart (removed screws in all four corners)

Just bought a used Toshiba laptop and as soon as I turn it on the only
display is dozens of vertical lines

Some very thin, all different colors. I figure it may be that the
cable between the board and the LCD is defective. We work mostly on
desktop PCs and haven't done any hardware repairs on laptops yet.

I figure this is common (since the display cable must swivel every
time it's opened).

Any help is appreciated
