Bil, Check all the cables to the display. If you have to replace the screen, look to spend over $300. I recently replaced on one an HP. Ordered the Compaq one for less. I think the display had a Samsung part number on the back. Do a Google search on the part number to find the cheapest. When I received this one, came with the lid and all. Toshiba Satellite Pro Model PA1230U XCD Laptop Can't get case to come apart (removed screws in all four corners) Just bought a used Toshiba laptop and as soon as I turn it on the only display is dozens of vertical lines Some very thin, all different colors. I figure it may be that the cable between the board and the LCD is defective. We work mostly on desktop PCs and haven't done any hardware repairs on laptops yet. I figure this is common (since the display cable must swivel every time it's opened).
