Jeff,
I'm not checking the vertical section because
1. I have vertical sweep (at least the red shows full sweep...the green and the blue will "flash" when I turn the set off).
2. I have no idea where the vertical circuit is (no schematics). My son is trying to get his Direcway up again so he can download the files from the Hitachi site. (very large files)
3. When I flip the vertical setup switch, I can get a straight-line on all three tubes, so I feel like the problem lies elsewhere.
4. I just ran the G2 up long enough to see what was what (it had to be done)
Hope this helps with the confusion.
Joe

Joe,
They are the convergence amps.
I'm a little confused...if you have no vertical, why not check the vertical section?
Also..do not keep the G2 up, if you have no vertical. It does not take long for that
line to etch in the
CRT's.

If you register online, I think there is a number you can call for tech support.

I forgot to add...when I go to setup, there is a straight vertical (no vert. sweep) line all of the way across both the green and the blue CRT's. I thought at first the filaments might be open on both. Hope this helps (us all). Thanks again, Joe

I couldn't find anything on the Tech repair cd. When power button is
pressed, the red crt comes on for a short while if you turn the screen
control way up. Then it will play for approx. 5 seconds. If you flip the
set-up button (to set the screens) it will play for hours. There is a
rushing sound, but I can't tell from whence it cometh because I can't
see what channel it's on. Does anyone have any ideas worth ruminating
on? There are three large IC's on the deflection board that are
labeled STK4274. (IC 1301, IC 1320, IC 1351). Any ideas as to what these
are? Of course, I guess by now you know I have no schematics today. Any
help is more than appreciated.
Thanks
Joe
