Hi Matt,
The user I setup is a member of the Administrators group on the local machine.
You have done everything that I would suggest. I assume that web sites are
working fine on the server.
You have probably had Robert look at your server.ini.
I really reaching now, but have you tried reducing the server.ini to a minimum
and removing the other instances setup?
Have you tried SHUTDOWNURL to see if it will run a taf?
Does DNS work properly for this url?
Within server.ini?
Maybe try a different url (path) to gowstrt.taf.
http://localhost/gowstrt.taf
Is this a production server? Any chance you could downgrade to 6.2.1?
Steve

Subject: Re: TeraScript-Talk: Terascript 6 STARTUPURL error

Hi Steve,

Thanks for this information.

We are running an "Advanced" version of 6.2.5, which I believe is the same as
Pro. I have 3 other instances setup on the server but am only running one while
we test this issue.

I just tried to run the Terascript server as the local Administrator on the box
(just to see if privs were an issue) and that produced the same results: server
appears to execute the STARTUPURL but then crashes and tries multiple restarts
before stopping. I also create another local user and gave it rights to Tronics
directory, no dice. Put it in the Administrators group, no dice. All our other
servers run as "Local System." May I ask what user you run your service as?
What permissions they have?

Yes, we can run the STARTUPURL .taf from a web browser without a problem. I can
also run it from a web browser on the application server itself. I have created
a .taf with an empty ResultsHTML action in it. That doesn't work either. Very
strange.

Any other suggestions are welcome. Thank you for you help.

Hi Matt,

We have been running STARTUPURL for over a year on our server. Same setup as
you. 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 server.

Three things potentially different.

We are running the pro version with 4 instances running on the same server.

We have not updated our server to the most current version. I believe we are
using 6.2.1.

We are not running the Terascript services as “Local System”. We are logging in
as a different account.

I assume you can run the taf successfully from a browser on the server.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Subject: TeraScript-Talk: Terascript 6 STARTUPURL error

Does anyone run a .taf file by way of the server.ini STARTUPURL setting?

Our Terascript 6.2.x install crashes on startup when we have a .taf file set to
STARTUPURL. We have used this setting since the beginning of time with Witango
to have the app server do some maintence, drive mapping, etc. when it starts up.

Here's what you'll see in events.log on T6 when it crashes on the execution of
STARTUPURL. It attempts to restart. The Terascript.log file will show multiple
attempts at trying to restart before it quits. When we remove the STARTUPURL
from the server.ini it starts right up. We've done some debugging with Robert
but he'd can't reproduce this. Would anyone mind dropping a URL to a .taf file
in their TeraScript 6 STARTUPURL setting in server.ini to see if they can
reproduce.

[ 4992] 2013-03-22 15:36:28 RUNTIME INFO Attempting restart

Our T6 app server is running on a 64-bit Windows 2008 R2 server. The Terascript
service is running as "Local System."

Much thanks,
- Matt
