Yet another follow up on this issue. Apparently the problems with the update were widespread, resulting in Apple patching and re-releasing the Java updater. Having installed it, I can say that the newest version fixes the problem with Terascript.
If you have not installed or reverted the previous update then the latest update will be available via Software Update. If you had installed the broken version, you will need to manually download and run the installer from Apple.
