Yes and no.
No, because we dropped the WISP protocol. V8s primary entry point is via HTTP through Jetty. Users can opt to use Jetty as the only HTTP/S solution for their sites, or can reverse proxy from Apache/IIS/etc to gain benefits of those servers. V8 does however also have a CLI entry point. This doesn’t work like the WISP architecture you outlined below, but does support a simple command line execution of a TAF. This entry point is intended to replace the cron system as well as the tool you outlined below. The command line can be executed by any application, such as Windows scheduled tasks. We’ve also added a way for a TAF to create a new request directly, without going through an entry point, so you don’t need to use @URL or Webcall to start another request going. This feature is still being developed. Finally, we’ve added a scope initialization system, so there’s no longer a need to use startup url to initialize scopes. These are just a few of the dozens of new features we’ve added to v8 in an effort to modernize the platform. This was useful for a few reasons: 1. Files ran MUCH faster than when we executed them through the webserver. I ran performance tests that consistently verified this 2. It’s great because I can set up a sql agent job and just pass the application file to the witangoclientdemo.exe and it just runs, fast and reliable.
