Well, I tried eng_problem.tif from the google files.  Tesseract got
very doable output.

Maybe the tif isn't a real tif; I'll look more into it.  Thanks for
all your help.

I'll check back here later tonight and provide results of a new scan
with considerable
attention to the file formatting.
