I'm contemplating about what exactly needs to be done. We wanted to avoid using macros hyph-xx.tex, so that it would remain easy enough to do auto-conversion to whatever other format might be needed (for javascript, OpenOffice, ...). I'll write you a bit more about that and would then suggest a tiny brainstorming. In any case we would need to know which patterns to include in case that somebody decides to generate patterns for some other tools than TeX. A minimal set or a full set? One important remark: you probably wanted your package to do the hackery in luatex in particular? You might want to cooperate with Élie Roux who wants to reimplement pattern loading in LuaTeX if you want to use some extra features. Mojca
