The L: line goes with the notes above it, which in that position
is the alto, which has only rests. If you put the L: line just
under the soprano notes, it will work.

I can't explain this -- it's probably a bug. The whole "auxiliary lyrics"
business is horribly complicated, and the next musixlyr.tex will have
much easier constructions, so I am more motivated towards working those
in than towards debugging anomalous behaviour involving the older method.

Thank heaven for small mercies. :-)

M-Tx notices only ( and { slurs, not s and t slurs.

Seeing that you're not getting the piece onto one page anyway, and
in places it is quite polyphonic, I'd suggest SATB4 style (which will
also get rid of all the lyrics problems -- in fact, one can use lyrics
paragraphs instead of in-line lyrics).
