I have tried it in some of my transcriptions. The solution I use
originates from Werner Icking, who used it somewhere in his Bach
transcriptions even if I don't remember exactly where. For an example from
me, se the "Sonata � 5" by Furchheim. I have put the necessary sources in

The solution is not very "streamlined" but works for small examples. One
thing to note is that if you are using several PMX files for one score and
want to use ossias, the definition of the extracts should be in a separate
file included before the first of the PMX generated tex files.
