In principle musixpss can handle total 4095 slurs and ties
per job. This limit is due to the capacity of MetaPost.

If the filesystem is poor, however, the limit may become more strict.
The name of intermediate EPS file is defined as \jobname.* (where * is
serial number of slurs and ties) so that '8+3 filename based system'
(FAT16/FAT32) may cause slow operation or filename overlap by 1004
or more slurs.

I would like to recommend to make one new directory per job and
put all concerning files into it when using musixpss.

On 2 Aug 2002, Joel announced to this ML that he wrote a script
for cleaning intermediate EPS files:

http://members.optushome.com.au/j.mayes/scripts/mx.sh

I think this is very useful. However, I am a win32 user,
not a unix nor clone user; so I could not run this shell script
on my machine at all.

It may be possible to provide this cleaning function with
the support program in ANSI C.
Also it seems cleaning function is strongly needed for many
people, so I would start thinking to provide it.
The problem is that file operation code (delete, rename,
path assignment, etc) tends to be dependent on indivisual OS's.

Best regards,
