Dear all.

A few hours ago I recieved the below message sent to a list of persons occupied with music typesetting.

As I'am primarily focused on the musical aspects of the Icking Archive I've cosen to forward the message to the list in the hope that some of you subscribers will consider looking into this interesting project and evaluate its potentials for TeX based music typesetting.

Best regards

Dear expert of MUSIC Notation and representation

probably you know about the work performed by the
MUSICNETWORK for creating a new standard on Symbolic
Music Representation into MPEG.

At this moment MPEG has published a draft call for
Proposal/technology:

http://www.interactivemusicnetwork.org/mpeg-ahg/

http://www.interactivemusicnetwork.org/mpeg-ahg/W6457%20%28Draft%20CfP%20Symbolic%20Music%20Representation%29.doc

For including Music Notation into MPEg and this is a good
occasion for companies that have Music Notation/representation
skill and background to reach a very very larger set of markets.
This is particularly true if you think at educational applications
in which music notation is mixed to multimedia. All the multimedia
aspects are already present in the MPEG and related companies.

This work has been supported by the MUSICNETWORK see the link below.
Both the accesses to the MPEG AHG and to the MUSICNETWORK are free.
Our service is supported by the European Commission funding.

If you have intention to propose your valuable technology
to be included (totally or partially)
into the standard THIS IS THE MOMENT.

See the instructions on the above sites and on the site of the
MUSICNETWORK for the next meeting.

http://www.interactivemusicnetwork.org/events/Fourth_OpenWorkshop_2004/MUSICNETWORK-4th-Open-Workshop-plan-v1-2.html

The call for contribution for the Barcelona Meeting is
still open and for you we can kee open for other 15 days,
up to the fist of july.

please don't hesitate to contact us for additional
information. A lot of documents and status of the work
on MPEG can be recovered by the above link of the MPEG AHG
on Symbolic Music Representation.

with the hope to collaborate with you,
best regards,

Paolo Nesi
(chair of MUSICNETWORK)
