The undesired appearance of incompatibilities is a major problem with all pieces of software that give extra flexiblity to the user by 'passing through' untranslated code to the next stage. Basically this practice provides undocumented features, and we all know what that is a euphemism for. So: M-Tx allowing raw PMX PMX allowing raw TeX The TeX command \special are recipes for disaster, but treated by our little community as challenges to its ingenuity. Caveat!
