I've just uploaded version 2.520, which enables the use of Bob Tennent's new font for figured bass (http://www.icking-music-archive.org/software/pmx/pmx2520.zip). Note that although I included pmx.tex in the ZIP for completeness, it hasn't changed since 2.519.
The special characters are altered versions of the digits 2,4,5,6, or 9. To get one of the special characters, in the PMX input string for any figure, simply follow the number by 's'. Although Bob provided 3 different fonts, PMX uses only the font cmrj, which you must install into your TeX system before this will work (see below for more on this). I would appreciate some regression testing on old files here. I've tried to get PMX to automagically select the right size font for the figures when musicsize is either 20 or 16, and in the process, I could easily have screwed up the backward compatibility. Without special provisions, unpredictable results will occur if you try any other musicsize than 16 or 20. If you want to use a different font family than cmr, you'll have to do some fiddling with inline TeX, pmx.tex, and/or the PMX code itself. This uses the font cmrj from the new package figbas, which can be found at http://www.icking-music-archive.org/software/musixtex/add-ons/figbas.zip. It may be useful for some folks if I outline the minimal steps I went thru to install cmrj in my MiKTeX 2.6 under Windows XP. 1. Copy cmrj.pfb to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MiKTeX\2.6\fonts\type1\musixtex 2. Copy cmrj.tfm to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MiKTeX\2.6\fonts\tfm\public\musixtex 3. Copy figbas.map to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MiKTeX\2.6\dvips\config 4. Edit the file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MiKTeX\2.6\dvips\config\config.ps as follows: After the existing line "p +musix.map", add the line "p +figbas.map". 5. Refresh the filename database by running Start|programs|MiKTeX 2.6|settings and clicking on "Refresh FNDB." The allows me to view results in gsview32 and to create postscript output. --Don Simons _______________________________________________ [email protected] mailing list If you want to unsubscribe or look at the archives, go to http://mailman.nfit.au.dk/mailman/listinfo/icking-music-archive.org-tex-music
