I.e. if you still have an old machine running Ubuntu Dapper Duck, it will probably work out of the box, but on a 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 even rebuilding form source gets one into segmentation faults. So, all that I would be able to with your code would be to translate it into Lua, which we TeX-ies all have.
