I find the \def\atnextbar notation for these rather clumsy. I've extended my autosp program to generate a bar-centered rest from a non-standard command \cpause in a note segment. It should be possible to implement this in musixtex.tex but I'm not sufficiently familiar with the musixtex internals to do this. Does anyone want to try?
