I've looked at musixtex.tex from T73 (March 1997) and it has
the same apparently faulty definitions of \centerpause and
\centerhpause, and the same commented-out definitions which
seem to work better. That's the oldest version of musixtex I
can find at WIMA. So I don't suppose anyone is going to step
up and explain why.
