Here's an ascender I haven't seen
before: <http://www.climbtechgear.com/ascenders/>. It's made by a
reputable climbing gear manufacturer, so I presume it's safe and
effective. It is significantly less expensive than comparable
handled ascenders, which generally go for $60 - $70.
