The cookout near Brenham is just 14 days away.
Most of you can't make it, but if you could help
me spread the word, that would be helpful. There are
lots of Texas cavers not on Cavetex, or Facebook, or
in a grotto, and some don't check their e-mails often, so
getting the word out is not easy.
I am still optimistic that this is going to be a success, eventhough,
I only have one other person that has RSVP'd.
I am still planning this event as if 80 people are going to show.
I will be surprised if more than 30 do.
The dinner is 6 pm Saturday May 22nd, at Camp Happy Hollow,
at 2029 Happy Hollow Rd. Brenham, Texas. Camping is free
all weekend.
Please keep my cell # in your phone if you think you might come
at the spur of the moment, as I will not have limited internet access
the week prior to the event.

There won't be anything going on Friday night, except me setting
up somethings, ( maybe a portable swimming pool ? ) But everybody
is welcome to camp, relax in a hammock, or explore the 60 acre camp.
I will not be providing ice or port-a-potties for the event. There just didn't
seem to be enough interest to worry about that.
It may appear that I seem overly concerned about all this, but since I am
the sole organizer, I have a few things to do before the thing starts.
I am providing grilled tuna sandwiches and apple sauce for a lunch for
people that show up Saturday early.
The local roadside farmers will have fresh picked squash for sale, so please
stop along the way and buy some of that. We will grill it over the fire, for
the dinner vegetable. They may also have gallon buckets of black-berries.
( They did last week ).
In the event, that your excuse for not coming is, you don't want to have to pack
all your camping gear for a weekend trip, don't fret. I plan to
roll out the red
carpet for any guest that shows up unprepared for staying overnight. I should
have a few extra cots, tents, bicycles, hammocks, etc.
Although camping is free, I will be having a yard sale to raise funds,
and I will
have a donation jar near the dinner.
