I am on Day # 12 renting a room, in a sixty-two year old apartment, ( from
a random stranger on Craigslist ).

Here are some photos:

All the stuff in the photos is my stuff - except for the model of an old
sailing ship.

The guy / room-slumlord, is a hermit. I have not had a real conversation
with him yet. He is obssesed with anime. I assume that he is about 35
years old.

I found a popular vegan restaurant just two blocks away from the
apartment. I learned a remarkable thing there today: one can sell a tiny
bean burrito for $ 15, if you add a teaspoon of hummus in it.

In the photo of my bunk-bed, is a box that has some of my vertical caving
gear in it. I thought it was all in there, but now I have to add that
hunt to my list. Ironically, or sadly that other stuff, would be in the
caving-vendor sack from the 2007 NSS Convention.

As crazy as all this may seem, I legally own half of a $ 160,000 house, in
a fancy subdivision called "Sienna Plantation." A place that I avoid
sleeping at - unless there is a hurricane slamming Houston.

I have spent days trying to clean this slumlords aparrtment, as it was
really nasty. I have no idea yet, if I will be here after three more
weeks. My only real option is to get my own apartment, but that is not
yet practical. I could very easily move just 20 feet away, as the adjacent
unit is vacant and cleaner. But then, I would be stuck with this crazy
guy as my neighbor.
