This may be seen in films. But here is a Purohit by name Umashankar Dixit who used to travel by helicopter for performing pujas. Dixit is a much sought after Purohit in US these days.* *Dixit, who hails from Chokkandahalli in Malur taluk of Kolar district went to US 12 years ago and had become a link between Indian devotees and God.* *In US, special pujas take place frequently at the business establishments, offices, houses and other commercial centres. Due to increasing demand, it was not possible for Dixit to fulfill the commitments due to pressure on time. The reason being, in US, there is a vast distance from one place to another place.* *Dixit, who was much worried about the distances, thought of becoming a pilot. He thought that it was the right way for performing pujas at 3 to 4 places in a day. But, if he hired a copter, it could turn out to be a costly affair.* *He finally decided to undergo pilot training. He successfully completed the training and even obtained a pilot licence.* *In US, small airports are being constructed at a distance of every 100 kilometres. Small copters can be hired on hourly basis. Dixit goes from one place to another place by piloting the copter himself. Dixit has studied only upto SSLC in Malur. But later, he studied Vedas at Magadi Karanikas Veda Patashala at Basavanagudi in Bangalore.* *Later he was appointed as a priest at the Shiva Vishnu temple in California, US.* *Dixit had taken more than 50 persons from Karnataka to US and had put them in the rituals of Archaka. Moreover, Dixit is the preferred priest of many prominent personalities including liquor baron Vijay Mallya.* * * *N.B.* * * *I have attended the consecration of balaji temple at chicago. The temple was surrounded by thousands if indian and american devoteees on the lawn around the temple. for devotees abhsheka tirtha and flowers were showered from helicopter howering above.
