SUBJECT -VISHAYAM I referred my Lifcodictionary for different meanings of the English word subject other than “thematter treated”. The other meaning was under the power of another.
Very often we readsubject to, with a 2nd item. The most easily remembering one is credit card interest percentagesubjected to minimum of rupees xxx for defaulted amount. Thatminimum is a very LARGE AMOUNT comparing to percentage of interest. Whenever festivalsare conducted the programs are subjected to availability of time. Recently I was seeinga tele-serial “Sathyaenna penkutti”. But it was abruptly stopped with the last scene evenwithout a comment it was the last episode. Probably subjected to the number of episodes it wouldhave stopped. Many a time peoplesliving in a country is called subjects. Now I got the meaning- subjected to the disciplines ofthe country. Subject as thetreating matter is widely used. Recently while meeting a Dentist, while initialintroduction I told I am a Physics graduate. He first asked- how you studiedand passed that tough subject. My dentalissue was nothing before that to him. Later he told- He studied BSc. Physicsfor one year and during the period he got his BDS admission. Really physics is felt to me a tough subject-especially while reading the matters dealing now. Recently I read the 14 FORMS OF ICE with difference intemperature and pressure. But to grasp it tookmore time. Another matter I read was a polar vertex in the group posting.Another very tough matter to read which caused the Niagra freeze. Mostly when subject istough, concentration lags within minutes. Probably on accountof this different subjects are allotted specified time to teach in schools andcolleges. While studying incollege, the subject meant “chief subject” though other subjects are alsotaught in the first year. While I was writingTES Group B examination in addition to general including all telecom subjectanother two papers we had to write. One was main subject and another code rules. While most chose easylines and cables I chose my subject – Telephony. My thinking was I should writeon the subject I studied. My friends said- You may not pass with questions frommodern technologies. Paper was tough withmore modern technology items. I had training in few, so I could write answer to70% questions. However Ipassed with good percentage, “Subject” in local talking is very interesting.When not desired person appears, suddenly the subject matter would bechanged. Very often during tensesituation to ease, many good people change to other topics though it may not belistened, and they know it is least related. But some easing would occur is sure. Yesterday I waslistening to serial “Pookkalam Varayai” in ZEE Keralam channel. While not like to listen the subject of talkby Samyuktha, mother in law changes the topic with her Nathoon. Mother in lawchanges topic in many instances in previous episode also. Really this incidentprompted me to re write and post this posting to groups. Once a lecturer wasasked by a group to talk on some subject. He asked the people to suggest. Againthey said- any subject- your talk is interesting- He smiled and replied. There lies theproblem. I do not know any subject fully to my satisfaction. If you suggest, Ican make out something. This I recollect now, which I talked during a seminar inaugurationin Mohanur Polytechnic near Namakkal. I was invited by the Principal whom I could not avoid. Yesterday I wasrewriting my pocket note- I was writing the name of my lecturer while undergoingtraining and later co lecturer. I calledhim on phone greeting him. I know he would have some good subject to talk. Yes.He told the proposed merger of DA with pay. Another incident toldby my son- for an examination one of his friends wrote the timetable with anerror. On date subject got changed. He studied for the subject he wrote. Whenhe came to know of the correct subjectfrom my son, it was late. He answered what he knew from memory. But all answersbecame correct since well stored and he got a good percentage.
